King Midas was so in love with wealth that he was given the golden touch, which meant that everything he touched turned to gold. The gift proved to be a punishment for his greed, however, when he discovered that even his food and drink turned to gold, leaving him in a desperate state. The situation turned tragic when his beloved young daughter rushed into his arms, only to become a lifeless golden statue.
